レム

Exhibit A. a picture I saw on 4chan's /v/ while desperately looking for people with whom to discuss Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver and at the same time making use of /rs/ to try and find an elusive doujinshi. I was very impressed by the artistic talent of whoever it was who painted this, and I set about finding out his name and if he had done any others like it.

Exhibit B. a gift I received from the original picture's creator, レム (Remu). I got a tip to check out the Japanese website Pixiv. Think of it like a Japanese DeviantArt of sorts, I guess. I still haven't quite figured out what niche it occupies, myself. Anyway, I go to Pixiv, sign up for an account, locate Remu's profile, find the picture, and send him some messages. He replies a few hours later with this generous gift. Awesome, awesome, awesome. (Note: I specifically asked him for a larger, text-free version. And what does he give me? A larger, text-free version. A much larger, text-free version. :D Sweet.)

Edit: it appears that Blogger's image hosting service does not allow images beyond a certain size, and it auto-shrinks them to fit. Exhibit A is supposed to be 800 x 1206, and Exhibit B is supposed to be 1600 x 2411. I have linked you directly to レム's courteous link he provided to me personally, but in case his bandwidth is limited (I have no idea! I only just met the guy!) I'll be taking that link down in a couple of days. Ask me to put it back up if you're late to the party and want the image! ^^;

What happened?

LOL. So what ever happened to those "proposed changes" I mentioned four months ago? Well, they got pushed off to the side and I have long since forgotten what most of them were. It doesn't mean they were stupid or unimportant. It just means I can't recall what they were at this very moment. As they come back to me, I'll be sure to share them with you.

Welcome

This is my weblog dedicated to discussion of Pokémon. My initial focus will be a series of blog updates in which I discuss proposed changes to the game's structure, but in the future I may use this blog to discuss strategies, personal stories, or perhaps even other aspects of the Pokémon franchise such as the television series or the trading card game.

The target audience for this weblog is a small number of personal friends, but strangers are welcome to join in on the discussions. I would advise you to not waste your time replying to any blog update which is both older than one week and no longer on the front page. When both of these conditions are met, it means nobody is going to see your reply, including me, and the point of any reply you make should be to join in on discussion, not to have the last word in a conversation that is already over and done with.

I may post a list of resources in the future, but for the time being I would suggest the following three names: Smogon when wanting to learn about the current tournament-grade players' strategies and movesets, and your pick between Serebii and Bulbapedia when wanting to look up basic information about moves, stats, items, and other information about the video games. I don't endorse any of these sites personally -- in fact, I rather dislike Serebii ;p -- but I'm recommending them to you as sites which I believe will serve you well if you do not already have a solid resource for Pokémon information.
